Francis Dov Por



Francis Dov Por is an emeritus professor of zoology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel. He was also a visiting professor of: University of Tokyo; University of Sao Paulo; and UC at San Diego. His memberships and fellowships include: Scientific Sec., Flora et Fauna Palestina Committee; Chair, Isr. Nat'l Collections of Nat'l History; Chair and Member, Committee on Zoological Nomenclature; Hebrew Language Academy; President, 18th (New) Int'l Congress of Zoology, Athens, 2000; Founding and Emeritus Chair, Int'l Soc. of Zoological Sci., 2004; Israeli delegate to Global Taxonomic Initiative (GTI) Convention on Biodiver-sity (CBD), 2000; Founder and First Chair of the Int'l Assn. of Copepodology; Corresponding Member, Royal Acad. of Liege (Belgium). His Research Interests covers Taxonomy and biology of Copepoda. Hydrobiology: Lake Hula and Lake Kinneret. Marine deepsea benthos. Middle Eastern zoogeography. Progressive evolution of the animal kingdom. Museology. Cave fauna. Prof Dov Por passed away in 2014.
